Having a website is probably the most important form of advertising for your business or nonprofit group. It's important to ensure your website is updated regularly and that you encourage your customers and members to utilize the site, and it's extra important to ensure that your website is up to date and secure.

WordPress is one of the most common website content management platforms, and just this week over 1 million WordPress powered websites were hacked due a major security flaw in the WordPress code.

One of the easiest ways to ensure your website stays secure is to regularly do the security updates for the site management system and any additional plug ins that may be installed. Another way to ensure your website remains secure is to utilize the services of a security firewall software. One of these such companies is called Wordfence, and they specialize in protecting your WordPress powered site.

Whether your site is using WordPress, or Joomla or any of the many other popular content management systems out there, it is important to keep the security releases up to date and installed, and for you to run regular security audits on your site. If this sounds like a lot of work, it can be, but there are tools to automate a lot of the process as well.
